Our multi-disciplinary panel, chaired by Dr Roger Henderson will debate some possible solutions based on actual case studies. The interactive Round Table format means that ideas can be exchanged, questions asked and experiences shared.
Discussions will focus on:

Optimising Referrals
Who should be referred? How do we maximise a 10 minute appointment? Could unnecessary referrals lead to de-skilling in primary care?

Getting It Right First Time
What does GIRFT look like in practice? How do we get referrals right first time? Are there ways to improve adherence to topical treatments

Reducing 'revolving door' patients
Could supported self-care reduce the number of 'revolving door' patients? What other effective strategies could be used? Do we have sufficient resources for these patients?

Background information:
Every year, around half the UK population experience a skin condition and there are over a million new patient referrals to specialist dermatology departments. This has led to an ‘inequity of access to care for people with inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis’.1
The Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) dermatology report2 recommends that health professionals should 'ensure that patients see an appropriately trained person in the right setting to receive the right diagnosis and treatment first time.'2
